A short film by artist Akiva Kenny Segan when his drawing of human rights murder victim Rodrigo Rojas was in-progress, July 28, 2010. The victim portrayed in the drawing, Rodrigo Rojas DeNegri, was 19 years of age when he was murdered in 1986 by officers and soldiers of the Chilean military under the regime of General Pinochet. Born in Valparaíso, Chile, Rodrigo was sent to live with relatives in Canada after the Pinochet led coup. He later lived in the east coast of the US, and was an aspiring photographer when he went to visit Chile in 1986. Soldiers and officers burned him alive, and along with a woman named Carmen Gloria Quintana, who was also at a demonstration in a Santiago district and who was also burned alive, they were dumped in a field outside of Santiago, where they were left to die. Rodrigo died four days later, after having been found by agricultural workers. Quintana survived, albeit badly burned. The background music heard in the film is from a record by the! Spanish singer and songwriter Joan Manuel Serratt. The Rojas drawing, completed since this film was taken, is no 14 in Segan's Sight-seeing with Dignity human rights art series for children, youth and adults. Segan, an American artist and tolerance/Holocaust/genocide/hate educator born in 1950, is a resident of Seattle, Washington state, USA.
